The Old Cottage, also known as Morastugan, is the farm’s original building. It dates back to 1729, as shown by an inscription on the roof beam. The cottage is often a favorite among children — it once served as the bedroom for the family featured in a well-known Swedish Christmas TV production.
The house is a classic 19th-century Mora-style building, offering an authentic glimpse into local history. In the late 1800s, as many as 20 people would have lived in a house like this. Today, it features a 120 cm bed, an 80 cm cabinet bed, and a sofa bed that can be made up upon request.
The Old Cottage has its own entrance facing the courtyard and a connecting door to the Great Hall. When closed, the cottage becomes completely private — almost like a small separate wing. A spacious shared bathroom with a shower, toilet, and washbasin is shared with the Maid’s Room and the Stable Room. Beyond the bathroom, you’ll also find a fully equipped kitchen and washing machine.
